This is the moment a kindhearted woman rescues a yelping Russian wolfhound treading water in an abandoned well that was so exhausted it was only a minute from death.
The incident took place near the city of Shakhty in the Russian region of Rostov Oblast after Tatyana heard the dog’s desperate cries from her home.
When she plucked the Russian wolfhound out of the abandoned well, it was so tired treading water that it could no longer even stand up, and can be seen in the footage lying helpless and shivering on the ground.
Tatyana told local media: “He was a minute away from death.”
She went to the area with her teenage son who filmed the rescue.

She said: “His fate was to live. No one can say otherwise. Our house is situated almost on the outskirts of the village of Artem. There is an abandoned well there and when I heard piercing dog cries, I immediately realised an animal had fallen in there.
“I didn’t know the well was filled with water, this in all likelihood saved the dog’s life.
“He was desperately fighting for his life. It’s hard to imagine how much stress he’s been through. Even the animal understands that it was a miracle he survived.”

Tatyana and her son bathed the dog, warmed it up and gave it some hot broth.
The dog is currently staying with Tatyana as she tries to find its real owners.
Olga Mosiyuk, director of the animal shelter in Shakhty who published the video, said: “Now everything is good with the dog, he runs around wagging his tail for his mother-saviour Tatyana!”
“Hopefully, hypothermia will not affect his health in any way. Tatyana shared her story with us. Together we are looking for his real owners.”
